About The History Press
The History Press began in 2002 as HistoricalPreservation.org. Formed as a private endevour and spurred from a college project by Brett J Mitchell, The History Press has proven success in the area of new media. In 2006, Mitchell released OhioCivilWar.org, an open source, collaborative arvhive pertaining to Ohio soldier's who fought in the American Civil War. As of 2011, the archive has accumulated over 200,000 soldier names, 7500 records, documents and images and 1400 members. We are a company that brings ideas to fruition through invention, design and exploration.
In addition to my entreprenural efforts I offer a wide variety of design services for small businesses and non-profit organizations free of charge. Offered on a first come first serve basis, I offer free services that will assist you with your marketing endevours. In exchange, I require a reference and survey for use in my portfolio (BrettMitchell.org) and the ability to use the creation for self-promotion endevours. The History Press, a new-media company making history through invention and creativity, is offering design and web services to small businesses and non-profits free of charge! No gimmick. No catch. It's just our way of helping you grow and bringing your business into the new realm of new media.
What's the point?
Personally, I want to play my part in bringing back a thriving economy to Ohio and other states. In exchange, providing a service to your small business will allow me to build my personal portfolio as well as the portfolio for my small business (The History Press).

Due to my demanding schedule, which now includes returning to school, I am offering these services on a first come first serve basis. It is important for you to fill out the waiting list form so you can be placed on the waiting list.

What are the qualifications?
- Independent small businesses (restaurants, music stores, gift/flower shops, etc) and non-profits. Non-profits must have a proven track record in a field that promotes the arts and history (preservation).
- Your business must be located in the United States of America.
- You are committed to growing your business, contributing to your local community, and hiring staff.
- You will allow a link in the footer that gives me (Brett Mitchell and The History Press) credit for the design.
- You must be willing to complete a reference survey for my personal/professional growth and submit a contact number or email for future clients/employers.
- Honesty and ethical practices and actions.
- Foresight and innovation.
- The ability for your organization to cast aside notions of longevity and provide opportunity to skilled individuals.
- A clear and concise outline of your design requirements.
- Content materials (menus, catalogs, mission, goals, images). All images must be high quality.
- Content material must be edited.
- This is a free service. However, we will not pay for items associated with web hosting and domain registration. However, I will sign you up for hosting on the quality and affordable servers that we use. I require certain servers to be used.
- I require financial arrangements prior to travel for any travel expenses, food, and lodging.
