Built in 1860, the Markley Barn located in Mifflin Township, Richland County Ohio is a fine example of a German style barn built by early settlers of Prussian/German descendentry. The barn contains it's original timbers, foundation and autographed markings of the original builders. Unfortunately, the structure has suffered the indelible torrents of the ages. The south/west siding is on its last throws. The foundation is slowly shifting the entire barn. The joints and pins are buckling under the pressure. The time for preservation is now. The call is loud. This beautliful German barn needs your help.
Immediate monetary funds are requested by fundraisers, preservationists and barn enthusiasts across the county. Assist us in restoring this barn back to its original 1860s glory. The Markley Barn Preservation Project is the first initiated alert by Historical Preservation.org. Your assistance in the project will keep this program strong. If you are in need of preservation assistance we can help you with your project. But first, we ask that you help us get this program a jump start. Donate what you can. Track the success of the project in the Markley Barn's listing. If it's successful, we'll post more projects and feature them on Historical Preservation.org's History Network.
